it was the first, our first, but definitely not the last.
today was a special day for both of us. it's the day that she had tried to run away from for the past 5 years and i guess it's time when we should face it. meeting the parents wasn't a tedious, stressing or mind-blowing task, partly due to the fact that i work in starhub and facing all the uncle and aunties from all over singapore, learning all the socializing skills that i need. it might be so for her though, which she has her own concerns.
Nevertheless, i embarked on my great-shopping-trip-in-1-hour (cos i overslept) and bought some fruits and auntie's favourite soy bean milk form mr. bean over to her house. I cant just go over empty handed (she said so). But my appearance was kinda awkward, cos she cant get herself to say 'yunzheng is joining us for lunch this saturday'. And so i was surprise guest, and invited for lunch coincidentally. How coincidental. I'm glad that her dad really like dragonfruit, seeing her mum's urge to slice it for her dad almost immediately. maybe i need to contact a dragonfruit supplier asap. lol. She ran away from reality (maybe to mushroom paradise) and left me and her dad for almost 45mins. luckily uncle was good at finding topics to talk about, and i tried as much to lengthen the conversation. if not i'm gonna be so awkward staring into blank space.
and then, the lunch. i became the replacement, sort of. her sis's bf wasn't able to turn up because he's having a family lunch too. owells, thought i could socialise with EVERYONE in the family though. ah, and i've learnt not to be absent for promised lunch/dinner gathering if not i'll be as dead as him. lol. it's interesting to see the family's response and maybe next time if it happens to me i'll know what to do. about the lunch, i think everything went well. she got to sit on the chair almost throughout the lunch and i became the part time waiter. lol. and also i guess it's second nature. and her parents get to see how i spoil their daughter. haha. will they blame me for that?
overall, everything went well just that i hope their parents din think that i came for free lunch. I would want to pay for my portion but was the gesture necessary, knowing that i will be rejected. maybe i should appear more in such family gatherings and get integrated. i see her dad tried to pull the strings though, but i think i'm kinda quiet during the meal. I'm looking forward to the next family outing, and hope that she can come for my family outing too. :)
it's because i love you, and i want to share my life with you.
